How to install Games on your Zune

PDFPrintE-mail

This tutorial will show you how to put games on your 2.5 firmware Zune. Not that this is the game testing phase and not really any really great games yet.

First you need these 2 programs:

- Visual Studio 2008 C# Express Edition (Scroll down, the green box)
- XNA 3.0 CTP Release (Hit Download)

Install Visual Studio 2008 C# Express, then install XNA 3.0 CTP.

After this is done restart your computer and open the XNA Game Studio Device Center and press Add Device->Zune, and press next. It will search for your Zune, and select your zune.

If it doesn't show your Zune, try closing the Zune software, reconnecting, and/or using the Task Manager and close the ZuneLaunche.exe.

Add Device

Once we have our Zune it should look like this when we open up the XNA Game Studio Device Center

Show Device

Now we need to find a game, I will be using Pacman from Zune Boards. Search the forums or Google "Zune Games" and download the ZIP. Extract it and click on the  file ending in SLN or that says "Microsoft Visual Studio Solution" in the Type.

It will open up and show the Main game files

Solution

Now if you press F5, it will build the program and transfer it to your Zune. Make sure it is connected, or you will receive many errors.

Any problems or messages will be displayed on the bottom of the screen.

Any questions, post in the comments.
